Description:Purpose: To ensure the floor operations of the Grocery department run smoothly while assisting stockers in keeping displays, shelves and coolers fully stocked and rotated, and to provide prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service. We seek out, welcome and celebrate people with diverse identities to participate in our community-owned cooperative business structure.Status: Level III, Lead Staff, Supervised by Grocery ManagerResponsibilities:FLOOR OPERATIONSAssess work shifts needs and establish/reestablish priority tasks and workflow Communicate assigned tasks for those on the shift with the knowledge of the other department roles.Communicate priorities, needs, concerns, etc. with the Grocery Manager and/or Grocery Assistant Manager daily and as needed. Setting clear shift and team goals utilizing department huddles and daily assignment sheetMonitor and maintain basic floor operations Assist with training Stockers to maintain accurate workflow, pace and knowledge of the departmentKeep current with delivery schedules and communicate any changes/adjustments/errorsWill be informed on any adjustments made in Grocery operations/lay out/support and communicate those changes to StockersEnsure opening/closing procedures are followed and communication between shifts is clear and conciseCUSTOMER SERVICEAssist customers with product questions in a prompt, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessaryWork as part of a team to develop a hospitable department space that feels welcoming to allWorking knowledge of the products we carry and where they are locatedAssist customers with suggestions and ways to use/prepare products Help customers place special orders, field customer phone callsSTOCKINGReplenish and rotate displays, bins and shelves using FIFO (first in, first out)Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelvesLabel items accurately with price tags and signsWork as part of team and establish priorities to create aesthetically pleasing displaysDispose of damaged or spoiled goods appropriately (compost whenever possible)Remove trash, clean cases, and keep storage areas clean and orderlyMaintain stocking lists & tasks for later shifts Notify Buyers of out of stocksRECEIVINGSupport receiving in checking deliveries to verify piece count; notify Buyers of discrepanciesCheck for damage and unacceptable quality; notify Buyers and Receiving of problemsHelp with unloading as neededRoute invoices to ReceivingRotate overstock into storageUpdate stocking list as orders come inImmediately move refrigerated or frozen deliveries to designated coolers and freezers DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCESee that unsaleable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage recordsEnsure that carts, aisles, shelves and storage areas are clean, orderly, and meet health standardsRemove trash promptly; sweep floor and spot mop as neededParticipate in inventory processNotify manager/assistant manager if equipment breaks or needs repairRemove recycling, trash, and empty crates promptly; clean as needed or coordinate with cleaners, or other staffBreak down cardboard and place into bailer SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIESFollow GreenStar's safety rulesAssist other employees in safety needsReport unsafe equipment and conditions Participate in safety training programsPerform other tasks as assigned to ensure a safe and healthy work environmentSTOREWIDE AND OTHER DUTIESAttend Human Resources trainings, all-staff meetings, department meetings, and OBM Huddles to stay informed.Read GreenStar publications to stay informed.Read, respect and comply with storewide personnel policies.Describe membership benefits, and how membership investment is made.Adhere to scheduled shifts.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSDemonstrate Leadership and organizational skills to include good decision making and time management skillsStrong multi-tasking skills, and the ability to delegate tasks as neededEffective interpersonal communication with team members and customers, verbal and written.Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.Open to input/feedback on work performance.Self-Driven/Motivated throughout shift.Knowledge or interest in learning about natural foods, products, local vendors.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, stay calm, and prioritize.Ability to lift 50 lbs pounds continuously, up to 75 lbs periodically Ability to handle raw and packaged animal products (meats, eggs, dairy, etc.)Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures.Compensation details: 18.77-19.77 Hourly WagePI150c7eedf649-25660-34100127
