Job Description:
In addition to faculty assignments in their assigned division, this
faculty member will develop, instruct, and evaluate students
attending educational activities in the ISPC. This position will
report to the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs, with secondary
reporting to the Executive Director of the Innovative Simulation
and Practice Center and will work collaboratively with the ISPC
assistant director, graduate program coordinators, and Decker
College of Nursing faculty and staff to ensure evidence-based
clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in
all simulation activities. They will, also, be involved in the
continuous improvement process for ISPC activities.
Undergraduate Faculty Focus:
* Collaborate with N321 faculty to organize lab components of the
course.
* Assist with continuous improvement processes of ISPC curriculum,
ensuring undergraduate activities reflect current practice and
align with didactic content.
Graduate Faculty Focus:
* Teaching responsibilities in graduate level APRN courses to
include:
* Didactic and clinical teaching
* Lecture development and delivery
* Course development, revision, and evaluation
* Participation in clinical simulation activities
* Academic advising and mentoring of students
* Direct and indirect supervision of student clinical experiences
utilizing Typhon.
* Conducting site visits to evaluate student clinical
competency.
* Service within the university will include participation in
faculty meetings, committee membership and related
responsibilities, professional activities, and other duties as
assigned.
* During the fall and spring semesters, one day a week release time
is provided to maintain advance clinical practice with the
expectation that the candidate will practice as an APRN in a
healthcare organization of their choice.
* Collaborate with graduate faculty to organize simulation related
components of the graduate nursing APRN courses.
* Scheduling of simulation activities
* Development and review of simulation activities to ensure
diversity, equity, and inclusion.
* Support graduate faculty to develop and demonstrate simulation
best practices, including but not limited to:
* Rubric development
* Development and implementation of interrater reliability during
all graduate nursing simulation activities.
* Safety during simulation experiences
* Student familiarity with spaces/technology
* Briefing and debriefing
* Oversee virtual clinical activities
* Examples include assignments with Mammacare and Shadow Health
* Mentor faculty in the use of virtual clinical programs which may
be employed in the future
* Assist with continuous improvement processes of ISPC curriculum,
ensuring graduate activities reflect current APRN practice and
align with didactic content.
* Student mentorship
Innovative Simulation and Practice Focus:
* Develop, deliver, and continuously improve the training
opportunities and instructional materials available to faculty and
advanced practice nursing students.
* Demonstrate effective skills and best practices for facilitating
and debriefing simulation experiences.
* Remain current with general and advanced educational and
simulation curricular advances.
* Ensure that simulation experiences are appropriately documented
and evaluated (scenarios, preparation, etc.).
* Assist in development of various metrics and assessment tools as
needed.
* Assist in related projects as needed.
Requirements:
* MS or Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university in
education, health professions or related field with experience in
simulation and simulation technology.
* Experience as faculty or working with faculty as a peer in health
sciences education strongly preferred.
* Position requires the ability to work concurrently on several
projects while maintaining details and meeting deadlines.
* Maintain current New York State APRN Licensure.
* Maintain current New York State RN Licensure.
* Maintain current national nurse practitioner certification.
* Maintain APRN clinical practice one day a week to support ongoing
APRN licensure and national certification.
* Certification in healthcare simulation preferred.
