About Binghamton University:

The state of New York provided $60 million to establish a School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. The school, which enrolled its inaugural PharmD class in 2017, is now housed in a new, state-of-the-art, 105,000-square-foot building dedicated to research and education and located at the University's new Health Sciences Campus. The school's outstanding leaders in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences use contemporary medication management and innovative research to transform human health locally and globally. The research and clinically focused school is training the next generations of graduates to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care to diverse groups of patients, especially those who are in underserved rural and geriatric communities. The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences obtained Candidate status from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education in June 2018. The PhD program is opening in 2022 and will be renowned for its contributions to translational, clinical and outcomes research within the changing landscape of drug development, pharmacy practice and clinical science.

Job Description:

The research-focused School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University - SUNY is searching for an Assistant Professor level tenure-track faculty member with expertise in pharmaceutics to contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the school. Research laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to perform proteomics, genomics, imaging, histological and analytical studies. The faculty member will join a rapidly growing and collaborative research group with expertise in neuromuscular disorders, cancer, drug and biomarker development, pre-clinical and clinical trials. Applicants with a strong record of research contributions including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and a potential to obtain extramural support are highly desired. Preferred areas of research include drug development, drug characterization (PK/PD), formulation, targeted-drug delivery, biomedical devices or related topics. A commitment to departmental teaching and service is important. Previous experience in teaching is desired, but not required. Salary is commensurate with experience and excellent lab startup funding is available. The successful applicant will also share access to outstanding departmental core facilities for research including structural, analytical and imaging instruments.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

Demonstrate a commitment to research excellence and innovation

Demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, including developing, teaching, and assessing didactic and laboratory components in pharmaceutics-related courses within the PharmD program

Provide research mentorship in the MS and PhD programs within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and provide education to graduate students

Participate in service activities at the School and University levels, as appropriate

Demonstrate a commitment to a diverse and inclusive academic environment

The school invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Assistant Professor level. The candidate should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching both in a pharmacy degree program, and in graduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a field related to Pharmaceutics with post-doctoral and/or industry experience. Although the area of scholarly activity is open, candidates will contribute to the University's Health Sciences Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence.
