Job Description:
Our Mission Statement: The Rescue Mission of Utica, Inc. is a

endeavoring to assess and meet the physical, emotional and
spiritual needs of those individuals seeking assistance. Job Title:
CASAC in our Addiction Stabilization Center Job Summary: The CASAC
position works under the supervision of an Advanced Counselor
Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor (Advanced
Counselor CASAC) or Program Director (QHP). The primary role of the
CASAC is to provide coordination and implementation of direct
substance abuse clinical services for clients. The CASAC
participates in case review with the multidisciplinary treatment
team, completes comprehensive assessments, composes treatment plan,
individual sessions, group sessions, providing referrals for
continuing treatment for discharge planning, completes all
necessary forms and documentation, supervises interns and provides
assistance with the orientation and training process for new staff.
A condition of employment as a CASAC is to maintain credentialing
and remain current on required trainings. Must obtain credentialing
through the NYS Department of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse
(OASAS) and adhere to the Canon of Ethical Principles as outlined
by the NY State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services and
the RMU Employee Handbook. Essential Job Functions Conduct
Comprehensive Psycho-Social Assessment (PSA) assessment of clients.
Complete PAS information as required by OASAS. Complete
individualized treatment plan and reviews as required according to
regulation. Compose clinical documentation reflective of client
progress towards goals while in program. Obtain authorization
through insurance company for admission and discharge being able to
utilize level of care determining tool. Assist in screening and
routing incoming phone calls to appropriate staff. Report all
observations, interactions and behaviors of a medical nature to the
nursing staff or medical director. Correctly document shift notes,
opening notes, behavior incidents, client activity logs, discharges
and completes all NYS OASAS forms as required. Utilize sound
clinical judgment with regard to client treatment. Participate in
case review meetings. Direct observation of client urine screening
and search. Responsible for the case management including but not
limited to making appropriate recommendations for continued
Substance Use Disorder, Mental Health and community support
meetings under the supervision of QHP. Provide individual
motivational counseling for our clients. Prepare records and
reports within the time frame as required by NYS OASAS Regulations
Part 820. Participate in clinical supervision meetings with
Advanced Counselor CASAC. Provide evidence base group treatment
sessions related to the disease of addiction using teaching
materials suitable for the population, various audio/visual
materials. Provide problem centered, solution focused therapy under
the supervision of a QHP. Maintain positive liaison relationships
with other community agencies, i.e. Department of Social Services,
Probation, Vocational Rehabilitation and other Addiction Services,
Alcoholic Anonymous, Al-Anon and ACOA. Assist in general daily
duties such as: complete client laundry process, stock shelves,
request and stock kitchen and refrigerator items, clean kitchen and
dishes, supervise clients in kitchen at all times, supervise client
in lounge area, supervise clients during meals, clean client areas
and clean and remake beds after discharge and receive and document
deliveries. Strictly follow all established infection control
policies. Follow established emergency procedures including fire
drills, evacuation procedure and disaster plans. Help maintain
safety and security by monitoring cameras, searching client
belongings and monitoring client activities, performing building
checks and practicing defensive driving. Update the Program
Director and/or Clinical Coordinator in a timely manner about all
matters, seek advice and counsel and develop a spirit of
cooperation in carrying out the job responsibilities. Transport
clients to appointments, as needed. Comply with Canon of Ethical
Principles as outlined by the NY State Office of Alcohol and
Substance Abuse Services and the RMU Employee Handbook Abide by all
Mission, program and safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
Attend and participate in all mandatory meetings and trainings,
Treatment Team and In-service trainings as requested by supervisor.
All other duties assigned by your supervisor. Minimum Job
Qualifications Minimum of (2) year work experience in an OASAS
certified substance abuse program or comparable setting. NYS OASAS
CASAC Level 2 credential is required Will maintain current and
valid license, registration or certification required for position.
Experience and ability providing Substance Use Disorder diagnostic
impression. Ability to develop appropriate recovery care plan and
reviews. AAS degree in substance abuse and/or human services or
related field. Prior experience with treatment centered activities
preferred. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) use. Current, clean and valid
New York State driver’s license, preferred. Ability and commitment
to the Ethical Principles of Substance Abuse Counselors.

requirements of this position, based on a Time Weighted Average of

facility and campus Status/Hours: Full time, 32 hours per week,
Wed-Sat: 4pm-12am/12am-8am Pay Rate: $20.50 - 22.00 per hour,
