Community Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Critical Care Stepdown
(CCST) unit for night shifts. The Step-Down RN will provide
specialized nursing care to patients requiring close observation
and advanced monitoring following cardiac and vascular procedures,
as well as patients with acute cardiac, respiratory, and
neurological conditions. The ideal candidate will possess strong
clinical judgment, the ability to manage rapidly changing patient
conditions, and demonstrated competency in post-catheterization
care, cardiac monitoring, and critical care nursing interventions.
Key Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive nursing care to
Step-Down / Critical Care Stepdown patients - Perform continuous
cardiac monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms - Provide
post-heart catheterization care, including management of TR bands -
Monitor patients following vascular procedures and conduct
neurovascular assessments - Perform frequent vital signs,
hemodynamic monitoring, and patient evaluations - Administer
medications, including cardiac drips and emergency medications -
Initiate and maintain IV therapy; manage central lines and PICC
lines - Safely administer blood products in accordance with
facility protocols - Conduct and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG -
Provide and monitor procedural sedation as required - Manage
respiratory support modalities including BiPAP, CPAP, and Vapotherm
- Recognize and respond to neurological changes, including stroke
symptoms - Assist with bedside procedures such as chest tube
management - Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation
precautions - Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection when
necessary - Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care
teams - Complete accurate and timely documentation per hospital
standards Patient Population / Diagnoses: - Congestive Heart
Failure (CHF) - Post-heart catheterization patients - Post-vascular
procedure patients - Respiratory failure (BiPAP / CPAP / Vapotherm)
- Cardiac dysrhythmias Qualifications & Requirements: - Active
Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-compliant) - Minimum 1 year
recent Step-Down experience REQUIRED - Minimum 1 year Post-Cath
experience REQUIRED - Strong cardiac monitoring and rhythm
interpretation skills - Experience with cardiac drips and emergency
medications - Competency in IV therapy and vascular access
management - Ability to manage high-acuity patients in a fast-paced
environment Required Certifications: - BLS (Basic Life Support) -
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - NIHSS (Stroke
Certification) Additional Details: - Shift: Night – 3×12 Hours
(19:00 – 07:30) - Hours: 36 hrs guaranteed - Scheduling: Every
Other Weekend (EOW) & Every Other Holiday (EOH) - Medication
System: Pyxis - No blocked scheduling - Local candidates accepted

is within a Critical Care Stepdown (CCST) unit caring for moderate
to high-acuity patients/nRecent Step-Down experience and Post-Cath
experience are strictly required/nCandidates must be comfortable
with post-heart catheterization recovery and TR band
management/nStrong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia
interpretation skills are essential/nExperience with cardiac drips,
emergency medications, and rapid patient assessment is
expected/nAbility to manage patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and
high-flow oxygen therapy (Vapotherm)/nFrequent vital signs and
neurovascular checks are a core part of the role/nFast-paced unit
requiring strong prioritization and clinical decision-making/nNo
blocked scheduling – flexibility is required/nEvery Other Weekend
(EOW) & Every Other Holiday (EOH) commitment/nFacility utilizes
