Surgical Tech Location: Norwich, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,858 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/16/2026 About the Position Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Technician Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Rotational Hours per Shift: 40.00 Experience: OB, Gynecology, General Surgery, and Ortho cases. Cesarean experience required. License: N/A Certifications: - NBSTSA - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross) Must-Have: - High school diploma or equivalent Description: Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique. Maintains asepsis and anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff. Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique. Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively. Assists the surgeon in gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and other related items during procedures. Anticipates the surgeon's need for instruments, sutures, and equipment. Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping instruments clean and in their proper place. Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count. Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment according to preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. Cares for instruments and supplies appropriately after each case. Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient by identifying potential hazards to the surgeon and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment. Displays knowledge of potential hazards within the Operating Room. Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource and acts as a resource for new OR personnel. Assists in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon. Handles and identifies specimens per policy. Expedites the effective and efficient turnover of the OR between cases. Takes rotating call duty. Performs additional responsibilities as requested. Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday from 0630 to 1700, with regularly scheduled on-call shifts including weeknights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Responds within 20 minutes for acute emergencies while on-call. Requirements Required for Onboarding BLS Pharmacology Skills Checklist Specialty Exam
