Registered Nurse (RN) | Psych Location: Elmira, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,546 per week Shift Information: 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: RN Psych Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Psychiatry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 03:00 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS Certified Must-Have: - Ability to work holidays and every other weekend - Flexibility with schedule changes - Willingness to float to similar units as needed - Completion of Arnot Naloxone Train the Trainer Course Description: This position involves working on an acute inpatient psychiatry unit. The unit has a capacity of 25 beds for patients experiencing acute psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and dual diagnosis. Staffing includes at least 5 healthcare professionals for 18 to 25 patients and at least 4 for 11 to 17 patients with a minimum of 3 licensed professionals per shift. Roles include charge nurse, admission nurse, and medication nurse, with all RNs trained to perform in all these positions. Patient care responsibilities include conducting rounds, taking vital signs, passing out meals, and facilitating patient groups. Mental Health Assistants take patient assignments similar to nurses. The position involves managing a patient load with a maximum ratio of 5:1, but often less. Restraint use is a last resort after de-escalation techniques are employed. All nursing and clinical staff are trained to handle restraints with security staff available for support during crises.
