many professional development programs. The Prep & Recovery Unit RN
cares for patients who will be receiving anesthetic care and who
are recovering from anesthesia after surgery. They monitor pre and
post-operation vital signs, assess levels of consciousness, and
carefully observe patients for any side effects from anesthesia.
Roles and Responsibilities: Demonstrates ability to effectively
prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs Evaluates
effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, and
demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate
clinical decisions, proactively addressing potential and actual
problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation. Performs
and documents an accurate assessment on each assigned patient
within established standard of care. Able to recognize priorities
within patient care and act accordingly. Ability to problem solve
and communicate accordingly. Cross trained to prep and recovery. 4
- 10 or 3 -13 hour variable shifts. Unit operates 5a-10p. Call
component is included in this role. Self-scheduling weekday call in
a 6 week period, call hours 9p-7a. One weekend 24 hour call shift
in a 6 week period based on a rotation. Some holiday call. Required
Skills and Experience: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
New York State Registered Nurse licensure Minimum education:
Associates Degree in Nursing BLS At least six months - one year of
critical care experience Preferred Skills and Experience: ACLS,
PALS (new hires have the opportunity to obtain these certifications
during introductory period) 1-3 years of Prep/Recovery experience
BSN CPAN Physical Requirements: Able to lift 20 pounds. Moving,
lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting of up to 50
pounds. Ability to stand for long periods. Location and Travel
Requirements: Onsite 101 Dates Drive Ithaca NY 14850 Pay Range
