Travel Job Summary: /nThe Registered Nurse (RN), protects,
promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness
and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis
and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of
individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for
compliance to all standards of practice and professional
development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice
Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of
Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient
Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for
patient-centered care. /n /nJob Responsibilities: /n-Assesses,
plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing
care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse
and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and
consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness,
competency, cost and impact. /n-Educates patient and family in
health promotion and disease management using available resources.
/n-Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely
administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
/n-Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective
resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies
and services. /n-Complies with all nursing practice standards,
regulatory requirements, and UHS policies. /n-Actively participates
in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting
the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and
contributing to peer review practices. /n-Actively engages in
professional development, continuing nursing education, and
completing all mandatory education requirements. /n-Integrates
nursing research and current evidence into practice. /n-Provides a
supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
/n-Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator
role when assigned. /n-Participates in the Clinical Ladder Program
as knowledge and expertise develops. /n-Will perform other duties
as assigned. Required Skills & Experience: /n-Six (6) months –
three (3) years of Nursing (RN) experience. /n-Collaboration.
/n-Communication (verbal & written). /n-Judgement/Critical
Thinking. /n-Organizational Understanding. /n-Planning (Organizing,
Time Management). /n-Problem Solving. /n-Quality. /n-Reliability.
/n-Safety and Risk Management. /n /nPreferred Skills & Experience:
/n-Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or
ambulatory setting. Required Education: -A graduate of an
accredited school of Nursing. /n Preferred Education: -Bachelor’s
of Science degree in Nursing. /n Required Certifications &
Licensure: -Current New York State Registered Nurse License. -BLS
Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross). -Unit-specific
requirements are listed in the Compliance Matrix - please validate
prior to candidate submission. /n Preferred Certifications &
Licensure: -CCRN. -Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS,
