Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 1 year in PCU/IMC within the last 3 years License: Current nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years - Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias - Experience managing IV insulin protocols and cardiac drips Description: This is a mixed acuity unit specializing in progressive care and medical telemetry patients. The unit accommodates surgical pre-and post-operative patients across various specialties, including ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery. Ratios are adjusted based on acuity, and nurses may float to corresponding sister units as necessary. The preferred skills include PALS and TCAR. Telemetry skills for both unit and remote monitoring are essential. Key competencies include phlebotomy, central line management, and care for ventilated patients. Additional responsibilities encompass wound care, isolation precautions, and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-5 during days and weekends, and 1:3-6 for nights. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. It's important to have experience with both pediatric and adult patients. Nurses will work closely with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.
