Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: 01/26/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity Job Summary This position is focused on ensuring the delivery of effective respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, and affiliated community groups. Responsibilities include the evaluation and treatment of patients in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. Job Responsibilities - Administers respiratory therapy procedures as directed by the manager. - Performs aerosol therapy treatments. - Conducts CPT/Flutter/PEP Mask therapy for secretion mobilization. - Provides incentive spirometry therapy. - Delivers Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) therapy. - Executes suctioning procedures. - Performs extubation procedures. - Ensures oxygen tank safety protocols are followed. - Administers oxygen therapy using all approved devices. - Manages BiPAP-CPAP therapy and responds to alarms. - Facilitates cough assist/vest therapy. - Oversees high flow cannula/humidifier therapy and responds to alarms. - Performs pulmonary function screen diagnostic procedures. - Conducts fit testing procedures in coordination with Employee Health. - Executes pulse oximetry procedures. - Performs adult and pediatric EKG procedures. - Provides adult, pediatric, and neonatal BLS life support. - Manages mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms. - Conducts arterial puncture and analysis for blood gas testing. - Performs quality control for the blood gas laboratory. - Handles patient healthcare information systems and medication administration programs. - Verifies physician’s written orders related to pulmonary and cardiology procedures. - Records and appropriately reports the results of all procedures performed. - Maintains compliance with department delivery standards. - Handles files and bookkeeping records according to department policy. - Assists in departmental in-service programs and training. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience - Up to three (3) years of experience in a relevant role. - Strong attention to detail. - Ability to collaborate effectively with team members. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. - Strong judgment and critical thinking abilities. - Effective planning and time management skills. - Solid problem-solving capabilities. - Focus on quality and reliability in service delivery. - Knowledge of safety and risk management practices. - Technical expertise in respiratory therapies and equipment. Preferred Skills & Experience - Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Respiratory Therapist. Education Required Education - Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy. Certifications & Licensure Required Certifications - New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License. - Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist. - BLS and ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association. Schedule Notes This position requires night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week for a duration of 13 weeks. Candidates should have experience in critical care, NICU, and familiarity with V60 BiPAP/980 Puritan Bennett ventilators. Ability to participate in external patient transports is required.
