Registered Nurse (RN) Ambulatory Services
United Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our
Float Team (Ambulatory Services). The Float Team is instrumental in
covering for United Health Services Physician Practice Registered
Nurses when they are out on either short or long-term absences. The
Float RN is a flexible, versatile Registered Nurse that is
comfortable in new surroundings and can adjust easily. The Float RN
is instrumental in keeping United Health Services Physician
Practice and Specialty Offices operating seamlessly. The position
is located throughout the UHS Campuses in the Binghamton, NY area.
Most physician practice offices are open 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday
through Friday, (there may be some small adjustments to this
schedule depending on the office). This is a
full-time/benefits-eligible position.
Registered Nurse RN Overview
The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and
optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury,
and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and
treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of
individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for
compliance to all standards of practice and professional
development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice
Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division
policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for
Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring
and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Registered Nurse RN Key Responsibilities and Expectations
Coordinates clinical training, orientation, and ongoing evaluation
of new/existing urgent care clinical staff as well as completion
and submission of clinical competencies at time of hire and
annually
In collaboration with the supervisor, coordinates urgent care
clinical schedules, ensuring appropriate clinical support for
extended hours of the urgent care facility
The RN provides clinical leadership staff while overseeing the
scope of practice of LPN's and Medical Assistants in the urgent
care setting
Triages and assesses acutely ill patients for early identification
of signs and symptoms to prevent complications and ensure timely
intervention of acutely ill patients
Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease
management using available resources
Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers
medications according to UHS Hospitals policy
Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab
testing and oversees proficiency validation according to regulatory
standards, Includes oversight of tri annual AAFP Lab Proficiency
testing, lab quality controls and Lab credentialing
Collaborates and leads patients, families, and all members of the
health Care Team in coordinating patient care
In collaboration with the Unit Coordinator, participates in and
facilitates Performance Improvement activities, monitors PI data,
and assists with the development of Performance Improvement
plans
Collaborates with the Unit Coordinator to promote and facilitate
the compliance and understanding of the Joint Commission, NYS DOH,
Infection Control and all regulatory standards
Participates in educational opportunities and in collaboration with
the unit coordinator, assists in providing information updates and
acts as a resource for all clinical staff

Position Qualifications
Minimum:
Graduated of an accredited school of registered nursing
At least 1 year experience in health care setting with evidence of
having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the
Registered Nurse curriculum
Current NY State RN license
Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week
of start of employment.
Preferred:
Previous experience in a walk in/ primary care/ specialty care
setting.
