Key Responsibilities of the Assistant General Manager/Head Golf Professional:

  • Assists with development, administration and achievement of the annual revenue plan..
  • Plans, promotes and directs all golf activities including management responsibilities on a daily basis
  • Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in the golf shop
  • Supervises maintenance of golf cart fleet
  • Provides golf lessons to facility patrons
  • Interprets and imposes club policies, rules and regulations
  • Hires, trains, and supervises golf shop staff and outside services staff
  • Conducts staff meetings with pro shop staff and outside services staff to ensure facility goals, objectives and standards are being met
  • Creates annual budget plan for golf operations
  • Manages inventory of merchandise in the pro shop and the outside service equipment
  • Directs and promotes golf operation safety program
  • Participates in daily morning briefings for housekeeping staff
  • Assists group sales coordinator with group sales and bookings as needed.
  • Inspects rooms daily to insure cleanliness and follow-up on maintenance items.
  • Assists front desk as needed with check-in/out, phones etc.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all physical assets.
  • Audits all inventories to assess control reliability. Identifies opportunities to control product costs and other expenses.
  • Prepares and monitors quarterly revenue goals and expenses as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) business volume reports and updating forecasts.
  • Monitors all financial reports/statements on a monthly basis and recommends effective corrective action in cases of any negative budget variance.
  • Monitors business volume forecast in each department and advises changes to plans or programs, in areas of manpower, productivity, COS, operating costs and other elements.
  • Manages marketing efforts to continually promote the operation.
  • Collaborates and assists key managers with developing and achieving business and operating plans.
  • Assists General Manager in monitoring success of all departments and department associates, including semi-annual performance reviews, as needed.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work at all levels, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Organizes compilation of all necessary data required to prepare annual budgets, as well as the comprehensive annual business plan. Serves as budget manager and as the point-person for timely and accurate completion of annual budgets for club operations.
  • Monitors basic personnel policy, reviews policies relating to personnel actions and training along with professional development programs. Ensures that human resources procedures and policies are followed and that deviations are effectively managed.

    Minimum Qualifications for the Assistant General Manager/Head Golf Professional:

    • Bachelor's degree (BA); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Other Qualifications:

      • CMAA member, GCSSA or PGA/LPGA membership preferred
      • Must have experience in the golf industry
      • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
