Job Description:

Zymtronix is seeking to fill the position of (Bio)Chemical Engineering Lead . This is a full-time position located in the Kevin M. McGovern Center for Venture Development in the Life Sciences on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead Zymtronix's research and development efforts supporting Zymtronix's process chemistry applications in pharma, food and beverage, and other related sectors. The incumbent should have experience in biocatalytic processes, process design and implementation from micro to macroscale. The incumbent will be expected to conduct R&D with various enzymes for Zymtronix's internal R&D, grants, and client contracts. Additionally, the incumbent will coordinate industry and academic collaborations and strategic partnerships, ensure proper reporting to clients and funding agencies, participate in the writing of grants, patents, and articles, and supervise interns. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Stephane Corgie (CEO and CTO of Zymtronix) and will report to Dr. Corgie on a weekly basis. Starting date - January 2020. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Job Requirements The incumbent must have: - A Bachelor's degree and industry experience in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline in the Sciences and Engineering - Experience with process design and scaling-up (batch, flow) for chemical manufacturing - Worked with enzymes or other catalysts - Fundamental and technical knowledge of biochemistry, enzyme kinetics, mass balances - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Experience in reporting and laboratory management Preferred - Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline - Food or Pharma industry experience, or a related field - Analytical experience (IR, HPLC, chemometrics) - Experience supervising a team and mentoring interns
