service.Job Description:Binghamton University seeks a full-time,
tenure track Assistant Professor to teach classical ballet and
modern dance technique, beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year.
In addition to Classical Ballet, the Department would be interested
in expertise in one or more of the following in Modern Dance
techniques: Graham, Horton, Cunningham, Limon, Humphry-Weidman and
Dunham..Additional specializations in any of a variety of dance
areas would be considered as well. In addition to teaching, the
candidate will choreograph in the mainstage and studio seasons. The
ideal candidate will be an artist-teacher, whose teaching, creative
activity, and/or professional experience will contribute to the
diversity and equity, and/or which addresses questions of interest
to historically under-represented or underserved communities.The
successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to:

- Teaching excellence
- Working towards a national and/or international reputation as a
practitioner and/or scholar
- Support an environment of equity and inclusion that uses
mentoring techniques designed to increase the likelihood of success
for every student
- Organizational duties
- Administrative duties
- Participate in Department activities, such as Department
meetings, Area Meetings, Alumni evants, University service,
recruiting and, community outreach. Applicants should have a
research agenda that will support and enhance the Theatre
Department's offerings, by increasing its range and diversity of
curriculum, with the goal of leading to successful tenure. Previous
university-level teaching experience is
preferred.Requirements:Required qualities:
- Expertise in Classical Ballet and Modern Dance
- A BA/BS/BFA and substantial professional and teaching
experience
- Significant professional and/or educational theatre dance
experience
- Ability to build an inclusive learning environment
- Choreography experiencePreferred qualities
- MFA Preferred
- Undergraduate and/or graduate university teaching experience
strongly preferred
- An additional specialization in another dance areaAdditional
