Job Description:

What this job involves: The Facilities Maintenance/Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of commercial and residential properties. This role involves collaborating with a maintenance team to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimal supervision. What your day-to-day will look like: Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, focusing on carpentry work including framing, drywall installation, finish carpentry, and millwork Inspect, diagnose, and repair structural damage Construct and repair woodwork and other wooden structures Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors on larger projects Maintain inventory of carpentry supplies Respond to work orders and service requests promptly Assist in other maintenance tasks as required Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:15 AM – 4 PM Subject to on-call 24 hours per day Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds Physical stamina and manual dexterity Standing, walking, bending, and climbing, often for extended periods Work at heights and perform overhead work Able to work in close spaces (closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.) Able to work on roofs of buildings Environmental Conditions: Work in various settings, both indoors and outdoors Potential exposure to extreme conditions Work in industrial settings with varying temperatures, noise levels, and other environmental factors Safety Compliance : Comprehensive knowledge of safe work practices Ability to recognize, assess, and mitigate or eliminate risks Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Participate in safety committees and initiatives Promote a safe working environment Desired or Preferred Experience and Technical Skills: Journeyman carpenter certification or vocational training in carpentry Proficiency with hand tools and power tools Solid understanding of safety regulations and protocols Excellent communication skills Required Skills and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or carpenter Ability to read technical documents and drawings Valid state driver's license Ability to work well with a team Physical capability to perform required job functions safely MMjobs
