Position: Admissions Counselor Status: Full-time, 12-month,
Exempt, Staff Department: Admissions Reports to: Director of
Admissions Salary: $62,353.20 annually Description: We are seeking
candidates for the position of Admissions Counselor. Paul Smith?s
College is a small private college nestled in the beautiful
Adirondack Park among forests and lakes that offer recreational
opportunities and vibrant community events in all four seasons. The
Admissions Counselor is a key member of the Admissions staff who
recruits students from high schools and other colleges, and
counsels students and parents regarding the admissions process.?
The admissions staff is a collaborative group that is
student-centered and dedicated to finding and recruiting students
who are a great fit for the college. Our team thrives on building
great relationships through extensive interaction with prospective
students and their parents, guidance counselors, and the campus
community and our ideal candidate will be a strong communicator,
professional, creative, and relational.? Duties & Responsibilities:
In coordination with the leadership of Admissions and Enrollment
Management, develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract
and matriculate new students within a specified territory. Develop
and implement an extensive individual recruitment (virtual and
travel) schedule based on the assigned territory by visiting high
schools and/or transfer colleges, attending college fairs,
classroom presentations, developing regional recruitment programs
as necessary, and attending other on- and off-campus events that
will positively promote Paul Smith?s College. Communicate and
cultivate relationships with guidance counselors and instructors in
assigned territory. Manage the case load related to the assigned
territory including implementation of various elements of the Paul
Smith?s College recruitment communication plan, counseling
prospective students regarding the admissions process, admissions
application processing, transcript evaluation, and tele-counseling.
Meet with prospective students to counsel them on completing entry
requirements, discuss academic programs and financial aid
opportunities, and conduct campus tours. Assist in the development
and management of content on the College?s social media platforms.
Work with any office personnel on campus involved in the
recruitment process. Meet or exceed enrollment goals for assigned
territory. Follow up with prospects and applicants by phone,
e-mail, and direct mail correspondence. Work fluently within the
Slate CRM platform to pull reports and data about recruiting
territory. Assist with related duties as assigned by the Director
of Admissions and the Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Qualifications and Preferences: Bachelor?s Degree in related field.
Ability to communicate clearly and make a positive impression on
prospective students, their parents and high school guidance
counselors. Ability to understand and present essential information
about the College and its programs. Sensitivity and commitment to
issues of access and inclusion. A valid driver?s license and driver
record that will meet the standards of the College?s insurer. ??
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and set up a simple display.
Regular evening and weekend work is required, as well as travel.
Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and
groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community. Physical
Requirements: Environmental Conditions Work is consistently
performed in an indoor office setting with normal temperature
ranges for the season. Traditional noise of a busy office setting
can be expected. Working spaces may be crowded based on traffic and
space configuration. Lifting and Carrying Ability to regularly lift
up to 25 lbs. Frequent lifting and carrying of light to moderate
office equipment (laptop or meeting materials) weight items.
Mobility Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while
performing administrative tasks, attending meetings, or staffing
events. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods ? including
conducting campus tours of approximately two hours in varying
weather conditions and over uneven terrain. Ability to bend, stoop,
and kneel to pick up items as necessary. Climbing various
staircases across the campus to engage in meetings and/or
presentations. Ability to travel independently to various locations
on and off campus, including high schools, college fairs, and
recruitment events, which may require driving and/or air travel.
Dexterity and Hand-Eye Coordination Manual dexterity for handling
small office-related objects. Fine motor skills for work performed
on laptop. Infrequent need to reach overhead or below shoulder
level to perform work duties. Sensory Requirements Good vision with
corrective lenses as necessary. Good hearing with assistive devices
