The Energy Auditor is a building analyst that evaluates and
analyzes buildings for energy efficiency, health and safety;
gathers data, conducts tests and uses energy modeling software with
the goal of identifying areas for savings, reducing energy
consumption, improving health and safety, and increasing the
lifespan of a building while also improving the quality of life and
comfort for building occupants.
Pay rate: $21.50/hour to start
Work Hours: Monday - Thursday 40 hours per week.

Job Requirements:
- - - - -
- Interviews clients to obtain household energy usage data, and
performs initial home inspection. - - - -
- Educates homeowners about basic energy conservation ideas and
methods to enhance and protect the weatherization measures
installed. - - - -
- Visually inspects the building shell and mechanical systems. -
- - -
- Collects data, documents and enters data into computerized
energy audit or uses a priority list to select cost effective
measures; reports for each unit weatherized. - - - -
- Analyzes, via computer, various energy conservation measures,
determines feasibility and priority of each. - - - -
- Performs whole-house energy audits, ensures quality control,
testing procedures, and post audit to ensure that all work is
completed in a satisfactory manner. - - - -
- Performs diagnostic testing using a blower door, combustion
analyzer, carbon monoxide sensor, etc. - - - -
- Performs interim and post blower door tests to measure
infiltration rates; uses blower door to direct air sealing
measures, utilizes computer software to generate flow reports. - -

- Estimates duration of job and quantity of materials needed for
weatherization activities. - - - -
- Prepares clear and accurate work orders to ensure the most
appropriate measures are installed properly and efficiently. - - -

- Completes required paperwork in a neat, accurate, and timely
manner (work orders, material requisitions, inventory sheets, time
sheets, etc.) - - - -
- Performs initial and final testing on heating appliances, and
records results on data tag. - - - -
- Works closely with, and provides guidance and technical
assistance to Energy Services Crew Leader(s) - - - -
- Inspects and ensures quality control of work performed, site
cleanup and post inspection to determine if all tasks have been
performed in accordance with program standards. - - - -
- Analyzes data on program effectiveness (e.g. utility cost
savings) and prepares reports accordingly. - - - -
- Participates in all phases of energy/weatherization training
programs as directed; attends conferences, lectures, and workshops
as required. - - - -
- Complies with and enforces the Safety and Health Policy
Standards in all work situations. - - - -
- Complies with all safety rules and procedures to ensure the
health and safety of self, co-workers and clients
Minimum Education and Experience:
- - - - -
- High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year in
a construction or energy technology field; OR - - - -
- Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable
to the agency which includes BPI certification as an Energy
AuditorKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- - - - -
- Requires all of the certifications mandated for Energy Services
Specialists; may include OSHA 10 or 30-hour Safety Training
Program, any applicable hazardous material training; and
Weatherization/ Energy Efficiency Training. - - - -
- Ability to write a work plan so weatherization work is
conducted safely, effectively, and efficiently. - - - -
- Demonstrates supervisory and leadership qualities. - - - -
- Ability to plan and function in both individual and group
settings. - - - -
- Demonstrates respectful communication skills and cooperation
with clients and co-workers. - - - -
- Ability to identify and resolve client and job related issues.

- Must be accurate and have a capacity for detailed work. - - -

- Ability to efficiently estimate job costs (materials/labor) and
job duration. - - - -
- Ability to maintain quality control of weatherization work and
ensure it meets program standards. - - - -
- Ability to understand and implement a work order and follow
directions. - - - -
- Possess math, reading, writing, and computer skills relevant to
the position, in addition to knowledge of basic construction
principles, terminology and basic energy principles, knowledge of
installation procedures. - - - -
- General carpentry skills, understanding of construction
materials and their proper application. - - - -
- Understanding of insulation materials, equipment, and
installation techniques. - - - -
- Understanding of fundamentals of energy, heat transfer, and
infiltration.
