The RF supports nearly $1 billion in SUNY research activity annually, providing sponsored programs administration and commercialization support services to SUNY faculty performing research in numerous disciplines.The Research Foundation for SUNY is a private not-for-profit corporation that administers externally funded sponsored projects for and on behalf of SUNY. The Research Foundation is a separate employer from SUNY and the State of New York and offers separate compensation and benefit plans.Job Description:The Binghamton University Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established to raise funds that further the purpose and mission of Binghamton University. Staff members and volunteers working on behalf of the Foundation foster and maintain partnerships with alumni, parents, friends and members of the University community.In addition to raising and administering funds, the Foundation provides bookkeeping services to other entities on campus; processing deposits and disbursements. This position is within theFoundation's accounting services department. Responsibilities will include:

  • Data entry of vouchers, check production, check distribution, uploading of positive pay and filing of vouchers for all entities served.
  • Processing of daily deposits for all entities, including cash receipts, accounts receivable, and preparation of each entity's cash bank deposit slips for bank courier pick up. Checks are scanned and submitted daily to the bank.
  • Cash window hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm daily.
  • Data entry of journal entries.
  • Processing of new account forms and change forms for BU Foundation accounts.
  • Processing of student loan applications and repayments, including accounts receivable maintenance. Sending reminder/delinquency notices for past due loans and updating status in the University's Banner system.
  • Preparation of Foundation vouchers as needed, along with labels and annual voucher file folders. Coordination and maintenance of document storage.
  • Maintain accounting services office supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and back up to accounting services associate.Requirements:
    • High School Diploma is required
    • Associate's degree in business, accounting or related disciplines is preferred
    • Minimum 1 to 3 years of cash handling duties and customer service experience is required
    • Must be able to interact successfully with various campus constituenciesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
      • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
      • Exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, and monitors own work to ensure efficiency.
      • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
      • Experience with Blackbaud's Financial Edge or other accounting software will be considered beneficial.Additional Information:Salary Range:$33,000 - $35,000 annually, based on experience. 12-month position.
