Job Description:

Position Overview Perform internal coding and documentation audits. Research, analyze, and respond to inquiries regarding coding and documentation compliance in accordance with all coding guidelines and Medicare/Medicaid regulations. Assist with coding, documentation, and billing questions to ensure compliant coding and billing. Develop final audit reports based on findings/observations during the audit process to present to providers or other appropriate staff members. Review all Cobius denials, write appeal letters, when appropriate, within designated time-line requirements. Schedule education sessions for Emergency Room coders and CDI staff, keeping them educated with all ICD-10 updates, and reviewing opportunities for avoiding denials. Training of new staff and continuing education for current staff. Aid in cross-training plan. Ensure audits are completed within a timely manner, requirements set by supervisor, develop a plan for completion and deadlines. # Position#Requirements Education/Experience Minimum Required: RHIT certification with an Associate#s Degree in HIT; OR CPC, CCS-P, CCS, or CCA certification with an Associate#s Degree or High School Diploma. Five years#of Outpatient coding experience. Preferred: RHIA certification with a Bachelor#s Degree in HIT 5 years auditing experience in the health care field Experience: 3M, 360, McKesson One-Contect, Soarian and EPIC License/Certification Minimum Required: See information above; level of education/experience is tied to certification. Preferred: See information above; level of education/experience is tied to certification. # Work Environment All work is performed in an office where employees utilize their own workspace, however are in close quarters with other co-workers. Frequent interruptions often take place in responding to customer requests. The office is air conditioned as well as heated.
